East Hanover Cub Scout Pack 20

Come Join the Fun!

We build things! We race cars! We hike! We even camp! Does this sound like fun to you? Well, it's even more fun when we do it as part of an organization that teaches values, leadership and good citizenship. That's Cub Scouts!

In East Hanover, Cub Scouts is gaining momentum. Pack 20 is growing every year and we are always looking for new friends to have adventures with.

How does it work?

Our Pack is sponsored by Kitchell Church (scouting is non-denominational). We are part of the Fishawack District of Patriots Path Council. Scouts start as young as Kindergarten where they will join the Lions Den, but they can also join as Tigers in 1st Grade, Wolves in 2nd, Bears in 3rd or even Webelos in 4th and 5th grades. Scouts can join at any grade level and are grouped by grade level into "dens". All of the dens form a "pack". Every year each Scout completes a set of requirements with their den to earn their respective badge. When they finally advance out of Webelos they "cross the bridge" to become Boy Scouts, joining Troop 128, also based in East Hanover.

When do we meet?

Generally, dens meet once or twice a month. These meetings are set by your Scout's den leader. We also meet as a pack once a month, where all the dens come together, usually for a fun activity or camping trip. The pack meeting schedule is posted on this page as we set dates and activities.

Things were a little different last year due to COVID. Recently, we have been meeting in person and outdoors as much as possible, but there is always the possiblity that health concerns may change things. Our team will be monitoring the situation to ensure the health of your Scout.

Girls can now join Cub Scouts!!!

Girls can join Cub Scouts and be a part of the same den as their friends. Girls can be in Cub Scouts even if they are in Girl Scouts, as they are two completely different organizations. For more information, contact Amanda Quinn or Meg Caponegro.

The most fun activity your son or daughter can have for $150!

The total cost for the year to join our Pack is only $150 for the entire academic year, and this now includes a Boy's Life magazine subscription and a "class B" uniform t-shirt for all new scouts. The cost of the "class A" official uniform is separate and the uniform and other items can be purchased from the scout store at 1 Saddle Road in Cedar Knolls. Certain activities do sometimes cost a little extra, but that's rare. Pretty amazing deal, right? We also do fundraising activities, like selling popcorn, in order to keep costs down and help the boys "learn how to earn."

How do we join?

Just click the blue "register now" button at the top of the page and fill out the online registration and payment. You can contact the Cubmaster, Rob Carpenter to learn more and he will put you in touch with your respective den leader. Join us!!!
